Began my radio career in 1959 at WMIN in the Twin Cities Married my bride in 9/12/59 and moved to Thief River Falls after a Union Lockout. I was Chief Engineer there at $62.50 a week From a $850.00 per month job in the big city. My wife and I saw the workings of small town radio and we filed for a station in Park Rapids Minn.
We received the grant 3 years later built the station in Sept 1962 only had a 100 watts 50 less than my ham station on 1240 kc increased power 8months later to 250 watts and 1 year later to 1000 watts.
