I was first licensed in 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio as WN8LRE, and quickly upgraded to tech, general and advanced class. Started operating on 6 meters in 1963 with a Knight T-150 and a Hallicrafters AM receiver, upgraded to Gonset G-50 and them to Swan 250 in 1965 using stacked 5 element Cushcraft antennas at 50'. Built first 6 meter amp in 1966 - 4-400 in grounded grid then quickly upgraded to homebrew pair of 4-400's. Tom, K8MMM was instrumental in helping me learn about antennas and amplifiers and was a close friend for over 40 years. I also operated some on 20 meters @ 1970-71. Moved to Florida in 1976 to attend Flagler College on a tennis scholarship, and have lived in Florida ever since. I have been active in commercial equipment financing for almost 30 years primarily with GE Capital and Caterpillar Financial in a wide range roles including sales, sales management, pricing, and strategic planning.

Today, I primarily operate on 6 meters and enjoy long distance weak signal contacts (scatter, tropo, etc.) almost every morning @ 7:30-8am ET. Station consists of a PRO II with GASFET preamp and 1KW to a 7 element "W8IF Design" stealth antenna (30' boom) providing a low noise antenna with over 30 db F/B. The array is fed with 7/8" heliax and rotated by a TIC ring rotator at 65 feet above sea level.
